CRITIC ETHIC

It all started when I watched “Koki Master Indonesia”, and I can tell I really don’t like it. One thing I criticized was the use of instant flour for cooking. I tweeted it. A friend replied, saying “Lu aja cuma bisa masak Indomie,” or something like that (I don’t know I forgot). But the point is, my friend was telling me to shut the fuck up, cause I can’t do better than that. I was like, I know this would happen hahahahaha. Dude, first I was criticizing the show, not the chefs. Second, I know I can do better than instant noodles. But that misunderstanding made me think. Because, simply, I believe I wouldn’t say something I don’t believe. I was thinking do I deserve tweeting what I tweeted? Do I deserve to criticize the show, or even the chef?

What is the purpose of critic? Critic helps you grow, it advances you in whatever you are doing, critic makes a better work, better attitude, better view. Critic makes the world better! :)

Many people refuse critic by saying “You can’t even make something close to it,”. I mean of course we CAN’T. Do we have to make movies to say one movie is bad!? Do I have to be a chef to say the soup is too salty? None sense. It will take forever, it’s an endless circle! First I have to learn to cook, then it will take a while, then I failed because I don’t have the talent, then I canceled my critic because I know I can’t do better. The point is, there will be no critic. But if there’s no critic, then the world is not going to be better place, right? :(

So, who can give critic? The answer, everyone. Each and every single person in this planet has the right to throw critic to anything. But in one condition, whoever to throw critic must have done great in their own businesses. They need to do real good in what they’re doing, then they can critic as much as they want. It’s that simple.

Personally, I wont criticize something I don’t understand, or something I can’t feel the difference between the good one and the bad one. Somebody ever told me that you have to love what you critic. I can now understand. I can’t tell someone’s way of catching fish is too reckless or not, because I don’t love fishing. I can’t feel the “feel”, and certainly I won’t criticize that in any kind of way.

Yeah, I know my rule is too ‘absurd’, but it fits me best. Manusia diciptakan dengan hati nurani, untuk membedakan yang mana yang benar dan yang mana yang salah. Gunakan itu ketika lu mengkritik sesuatu. Ask yourself dan lu akan tahu apakah lu memang sudah pantas untuk mengkritik atau cuma sekedar orang sinis yang benci sama dunia ini.
